Who are we?
Our Story
Class Act was founded in February 2012 by Leah McCay and Claire Kirk, two passionate drama teachers with a shared vision of expanding opportunities for young people in Strabane through the arts. What began as a Saturday morning drama class at Fountain Street Community Centre soon blossomed into a thriving hub of creativity. As demand grew, Class Act moved to its current home at St Patrick's Hall, Strabane. In 2018, Ryan Quinn joined the team following Claire's decision to move on, and despite the heartbreaking loss of Claire in 2019, her legacy lives on in the continued success of Class Act. Building on the foundation laid by Leah and Claire, the company expanded to offer high-quality training in singing and dancing, creating a unique, well-rounded musical theatre experience. From a single Saturday class to a full weekly timetable, Class Act now offers training across acting, singing, and dance. We continue to produce professional-level musical productions, giving students the chance to experience the thrill of stage performance. The Class Act Singers, an elite vocal group led by Ryan, are local ambassadors for Strabane, performing at high-profile events and even reaching the final of BBC Young Choir of the Year. Our Dance faculty, led by Emmet Stewart, is renowned for solid technique and exciting choreography, providing performance opportunities for all ages and abilities. Through dedication, creativity, and a commitment to excellence, Class Act has become a cornerstone of the Strabane community, empowering young people to discover and develop their talents in a fun and inspiring environment.
